The Leader’s Institute® once again brought their Fearless Presentations® public speaking course to New York just in time for the Holidays.
New Yorkers have known for their Type A personalities and drive to succeed within the competitive world of the Big Apple. Many of the participants came primarily to help get an edge amongst their peers and to outshine the rest by means of their communication and leadership skills. Excellent communicators are commonly attributed to being great leaders as well. The group in New York consisted of a C-level executive in Cigna, a documentary director from Connecticut, a member of the Museum of Modern Art as well as individuals who worked in the resorts, advertising, food services, and IT services industries.
Sometimes the participants who take our classes come through with breakthroughs that they would have never expected. For instance, one of the members within the class realized that an initiative that he was spearheading was the wrong step for the benefit of the company and its clients. He found that even though the solution he was working towards seemed like the obvious choice, that it would be a huge waste of money and resources going forward. This ‘epiphany’ as he called it occurred when we started crafting our presentations on day 2. The gentleman realized that he could not find any substance for this initiative simply because deep down he did not believe it was the best step for the organization. Subsequently, this decision alone would go on to save the company millions in expenditures.
The Fearless Presentations® course is not meant to merely assist in overcoming presentation anxiety, but also a means for personal growth. The class will push folks beyond their limits to become better communicators, leaders and individuals within their organizations.
