On September 9th, 2025, Caltrans brought together employees from its LA and San Bernardino offices for a Fearless Presentations® workshop in Los Angeles, California. Twelve team members gathered at the Caltrans headquarters, for two days focused on building confidence and improving presentation skills. The group arrived with plenty of enthusiasm and a great sense of humor, creating a fun learning environment from the very beginning. Throughout the workshop, attendees learned practical techniques to reduce nervousness, organize their ideas, and deliver stronger presentations under pressure.
From scenic backroads to the busiest freeways, Caltrans keeps California moving. The department manages more than 50,000 miles of highways and freeways, supports intercity rail service, permits hundreds of public-use airports and hospital heliports, and partners with local agencies to improve transportation across the state. Since 1895, Caltrans has served as California’s transportation backbone while leading innovation in engineering, planning, environmental stewardship, technology, maintenance, and many other areas. The department remains committed to creating a safer, more connected, and more sustainable future for communities throughout California.
Caltrans Employees Strengthen Presentation Skills With a Fearless Presentations® in Los Angeles, California
The workshop focused on helping attendees replace nervousness with confidence. During the first day, the group learned simple techniques to reduce speaking anxiety, think more clearly under pressure, and deliver short presentations with greater confidence. Participants practiced storytelling, received feedback, and discovered ways to bring more energy into every presentation. The team’s positive attitude and willingness to participate made each exercise even more enjoyable.
On the second day, the focus shifted to creating presentations that were easier to deliver and more engaging for an audience. Attendees learned how to organize ideas without memorizing speeches, design better visual aids, and present with greater clarity. Each person also received one-on-one coaching while practicing a real presentation. By the end of the workshop, everyone had noticeably improved both their confidence and delivery. The supportive atmosphere encouraged participants to step outside their comfort zones and celebrate each other’s progress along the way.
