CalTrans Fearless Presentations® Event in Sacramento, California We had the pleasure of leading a Fearless Presentations® class for CalTrans in Sacramento, California. Twelve attendees from various departments participated in the event, with seven representing CalTrans for their second public speaking class this year. This two-day workshop, led by Doug Staneart and Debbie Brunet, is designed to help participants overcome their public speaking fears and become more confident presenters.

The California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) is responsible for maintaining and managing over 50,000 miles of highways and roads across the state. With a commitment to improving the safety and efficiency of California’s transportation system, CalTrans plays a vital role in the state’s infrastructure and economy. The organization is made up of engineers, planners, and public administrators. All of whom are often tasked with delivering complex information to diverse audiences, making presentation skills a valuable asset.

CalTrans Employees Enhance Their Public Speaking Skills in Sacramento, California

The Fearless Presentations® event focused on helping CalTrans employees transform their technical knowledge into clear, engaging presentations. Over the course of two days, participants engaged in exercises that broke down the essentials of public speaking, from structuring their content to delivering it confidently. The group started off somewhat hesitant, but they quickly began to embrace the process. All in all, they showed significant improvement by the time they delivered their final presentations. Each participant identified their individual strengths and incorporated them into their delivery, turning previously intimidating situations into opportunities for connection.

From Hesitation to Confidence: A Transformative Experience

What was especially rewarding about this session was witnessing the growth of the attendees. Initially reserved, the participants worked hard to conquer their fears. And by the end, every individual was able to deliver their final presentations with confidence and poise. The transformation over the two days was remarkable. The group took their technical knowledge and learned how to present it in an engaging and accessible manner. In the end, the workshop concluded with a series of polished final presentations, a testament to the progress each person made throughout the training.

* We require that participants who request to pay by check must guarantee registrations with a credit card unless a check accompanies the registration. Participants must pay the invoice no later than 30 days after the completion of the class. Otherwise, we will charge the credit card on file.

We also limit enrollment for all classes. Participants can register on a first-come, first-served basis. You can transfer to a future class for no charge as long as our office is notified by email at least 14-days before the class. Finally, participants who do not show up for the course or those who cancel within 14 days of the class start date are not eligible for a refund. In the unlikely circumstance that we have to cancel a scheduled class, all registered attendees will receive a one-time $400 refund of their tuition after they choose a class to transfer to for the inconvenience the cancellation has caused you.
