In August 2024, we delivered a custom executive presentation workshop for a full group of 12 Caltrans employees in Sacramento, California. This custom two-day public speaking class helped the participants become more confident, clear, and professional when presenting to groups.
Caltrans, the California Department of Transportation, oversees one of the largest and most complex transportation networks in the country. Many of their team members lead projects, speak at meetings, or report updates to stakeholders on a regular basis. For professionals in those roles, presentation skills are essential.

The workshop was especially valuable for this team because several participants spoke English as a second language. Many shared that they often felt unsure when presenting—especially in formal meetings or high-pressure settings. Because of this, they were eager to gain more structure and support in how they deliver key messages.
Over the two days, we helped each person reduce nervousness, strengthen their voice, and organize their thoughts more clearly. In addition, we coached them on how to reduce accent-related distractions and project confidence through posture, tone, and eye contact. As a result, many participants said they felt significantly more comfortable speaking by the second day.
Just as an FYI, twelve participants is the largest class size we recommend for this program. With that number, we can still provide individual coaching without sacrificing group momentum. During he custom executive presentation workshop, each person gave multiple presentations and received feedback directly from the instructor. In fact, most participants said the one-on-one tips were the most valuable part of the class.
By the final session, the difference in poise and presence was impressive. For example, some who were hesitant to speak up on day one were confidently delivering structured, engaging messages by the end. We were proud to support the Caltrans team in building stronger communication skills. The workshop gave them tools to speak up, present data clearly, and lead with confidence.
