Eight profession ladies (and one very lucky guy) became fearless in Chicago, Illinois last week. We held another public speaking class in Chicago. The two day class covered how to reduce presentation jitters as well as tips to create fantastic presentations.
Two of the participants were mother and daughter. The mother started a non-profit for kids with autism. And the daughter was a graduate student just starting her career. One of the most common comments I get is, “I wish I’d done this years ago!” So, when we have young people attend the class, we can’t wait to see how they do in their careers.
A few people from Canada came in for the class, but most everyone else was from Chicagoland.
Public Speaking Class in Chicago, IL Helps Presenters Think and Speak on Their Feet.
One of the important parts of the class that we often overlook is getting participants comfortable speaking off the cuff. Throughout the first day, we offer a number of public speaking tips that can be used to reduce nervousness. However, when people are put under pressure, they often panic. So, one of the sessions shows the class how they can use the same poise when ask to speak impromptu.
At the start of the session, most people feel a little anxious. However, after a few minutes (and a few successes,) they begin to see that the technique is the same as when they have a conversation with friends. The pressure that we feel comes from overthinking — and from our own self-doubt. Once they eliminate these two obstacles, speaking off the cuff is easy.
If you want to get better at presenting either prepared speeches or impromptu presentation, we invite you to come to one of our public speaking classes. If you are in Chicago, here are details about the next public speaking class in Chicago, IL.
